Douchebag Deviants class and Playing Well With Others: Lee Harrington and Mollena Williams Bookparty
Sunday, November 11th, 5-7pm
$15.00 At The Door
Center for Sex and Culture: 1349 Mission St. San Francisco, CA 94103
Join Lee Harrington and Mollena as they hit Northern California on their EPIC International Whistle Stop Tour 2012! They’ll be autographing copies of their best-selling book “Playing Well With Others: Your Field Guide to Discovering, Exploring & Navigating the Kink, Leather and BDSM Communities” as well as their respective Toybag guises, Lee’s books “Sacred Sexuality” and “Shibari You Can Use” and Mollena’s DVD from Kink Academy on Submission and Service! Get ‘em autographed, meet the authots and support them in their quest to kink across America & Canada!
That will also be presenting one of their co-presented classes, created especially for the “Whistle Stop Tour:” DOUCHEBAG DEVIANTS!
How do you handle the persistent douchebag whose behaviour seems unchecked? The high-profile douchebag that everyone seems reluctant to confront? What should your behaviour be in the face of flagrant douchebaggery, and most importantly, how do we handle our own inner douchebag when they rear their ugly, nozzled, head?
This class takes a look at the gamut of idiocy…both ours and others, and examines ways to turn an awkward situation towards positive outcome, or opportunity to educate. Bring your stories, and let’s hash this out! From the silly to the serious, we’ll take a look at how we can manage ourselves, our expectations, and our reactions to Douchebag Deviants.
More about Playing Well With Others: The essential guide to kink outside the bedroom:
Whether you’re a trembling novice or a jaded expert, there’s always something new to be discovered in the endlessly changing, complex and titillating world of kink. While there are plenty of other books out there that explain how to give a spanking or tie a half-hitch, Playing Well With Others is the first book that explains kink *culture* — the munches, parties, leather bars, conferences, workshops, fetish nights, exploratoriums and all the other gatherings of kinksters that turn BDSM and leather from a bedroom predilection to a lifestyle and a community.
You’ll learn to:
• Examine your own motivations, needs, wants and desires
• Ease your way into established communities
• Understand etiquette in different adventurous sex communities
• Familiarize yourself with the many types of events available to you
• Care for your relationships as you explore new territory
• Negotiate for play and aftercare
• Go back to the “world at large” without ruffling feathers
• …and, of course, answer the all-important question: What do you wear?!
The team of Harrington and Williams offers 30-plus years of experience in diverse kink communities: top, bottom and switch; gay, bi and straight; female, male and trans; white and POC. Both former titleholders and international educators, they are an unbeatable pair of “sexual sherpas” with an inimitable voice and a great deal of wisdom.
Playing Well With Others is an unprecedented and essential guidebook for anyone who wants to explore or understand the “community” aspect of the kink lifestyle.
