My plan is to get a bunch of SF queers into salsa dancing so we can then schedule some Rainbow Guerrilla Salsa nights! Please pay online using paypal athttp://www.meetup.com/SFLGBTQ-SalsaDance/ OR bring cash to the door (exact change is appreciated).
Half of the money from every class goes to The Center for Sex and Culture, which is a VERY cool queer-run non-profit. For more on them check out www.sexandculture.org
If you want to give them some extra $, as a thank you for giving us their space for these classes, that’d be nice too!
No one turned away for lack of funds! Please NEVER avoid class just because you can’t afford it. I believe in our community and I know times are hard all around. I teach because I love it, and I know dance lifts us up. When in doubt, come dance. :-)
If you have any suggestions or requests about classes, or our group, or anything else, please shout out!

a VERY special evening with Steven Johnson Leyba and Marly Preston

Wednesday, May 1, 7:30pm

PROJECT #9 is a very dark and outraged electro-march-synth Post- Collapse duo of Composer Marly Preston and Spoken word per formance artist Steven Johnson Leyba. In a style they call “Cinematalk”. A very political band with a very specific and clear message against the growing global authoritarianism and the sup pression of critical thinking in a time when the United States government is fearing its own citizens especially those critical of domestic and foreign poli cies while demanding Constitutional Rights. What Leyba calls “Speaksongs” are a defiant affront to those living the scripted life fed to them by the media, politicians, celebrities, the United Na tions and transnational corporations. In a time of environmentalist propa ganda they expose what is behind the green mask of those that speak “Green speak.” Some of our songs are sung by Marly but most are spoken by Leyba so as to be very clear without poetic am biguity to convey precise messages and critiques in a time of diminishing freedoms. “We do not fear governments nor do we deem them necessary why do you? Preview album here: http://imaterrorist.com/index.html
The Reverend Steven Johnson Leyba is a famous painter, Neo-Satanist (ordained by the infa mous Anton LaVey of the Church of Satan) and legendary performance artist (Apache Whiskey Rite/Jack Davis Party 1997) known for his provocative subject matter and his burning passion for justice and the pursuit of truth. Also known as a fierce anti-Monsanto food activist/ painter.
Like an anti-hero, he violently and poetically calls tyrants and bull shitters of all kinds to the mat. Leyba will also be performing the “Curse For Monsanto” and have on hand the anti-Monsanto album by his other band USAF. He has traveled the globe in pursuit of growth and experience. In his travels to NY he found a lone com poser by the name of Marly Preston. He was amazed by her work. Marly has always been a fan of the Reverend and they decided to form Project #9 together; a musical grouping which allowed them both to go on much the same way they were while making music that speaks to the hearts and minds of analytical soul who cared to listen.
Marly Preston Project #9 has allowed Leyba to go on writing his spoken word while Marly composes as she always has. Marly is a Neo- Satanist, gun rights post gender, Anarcho- Capitalist Constitutional activist. Together they create music that would bombastically march through the hearts of the revolutionary minded.
They both know that Project #9 is not for everyone. It is only for the active, creative, and thinking types. If you’ve heard this interesting music and enjoyed it you have stood up to the challenge and see why Leyba and Marly have made such claims.

Foxy Tann has been living the life on the road since she was a wee performer! Working in Ohio on the outdoor drama circuit and then to Florida to work for “The Rat”. Numerous legitimate and illegitimate theatrical endeavors later, Foxy Tann found herself at tits end…without drive and without purpose. And then she found burlesque! 2006 Exotic World Best Troupe and Most Vegas, London with Immodesty Blaize, LA with Margaret Cho, Minneapolis with El Vez. Chicago, Detroit, San Fran, Madison, Huntsville, Seattle, Vancouver, Denver and Des Moines…in all The Fox teaches, performs and hawks her wares, creating the life of the traveling sho ho. And she is finally on that road that ends all roads…the road to stardom!
