Carter-Johnson Library at Center for Sex and Culture
From Wednesday, September 19th until Tuesday, September 25th the San Francisco Bay Area Leather Alliance is bringing the Carter-Johnson Leather Library to San Francisco’s Center for Sex and Culture, 1349 Mission Street.
The Carter-Johnson Leather Library is an interactive collection of thousands of printed materials related to BDSM, Leather and Kink dating as far back as the year 1701.  It also includes videos that will be visible and artwork.  Viola Johnson and her librarians will be available to assist researchers and casual readers alike.
The Leather Library will be open and free of charge for visitors from 10 am until 5 pm each day, with evening receptions open to the public, hosted by San Francisco Bay Area Leather Community members, on select nights.  The Alliance welcomes people of genders and orientation to this community event.
Wednesday, September 19th, 7:00-9:00 pm: Library Kickoff celebration hosted by the Exiles and the San Francisco girls of Leather.  Visit the library, cruise and schmooze with San Francisco’s liveliest leather ladies!
Thursday, September 20th, 7:30-10:30 pm: “Leather Memories”  Cleo Dubois hosts a visual journey through her formative years in leather.  Special guests including Fakir Musafar, Viola Johnson, Sybil Holiday and Race Bannon will also share some of their own leather memories.  $5-20 sliding scale, benefitting the Center for Sex and Culture. 
Saturday, September 22nd, 6:30-11:00 pm:  Titleholder Social, Trinity, American Leatherwoman 2012, Sandy “Mama” Reinhardt, and Tracy Wolf, Women’s International Leather Legacy 2011, will be hosting a titleholder social.  Stop by to grab a snack and connect with old friends or make new ones before going to your pre-Folsom parties!
Saturday, September 22nd, 10:00-11:00 pm: Rubber Men of San Francisco join the social to dedicate the Rubber Pride Flag at the Library!
Sunday, September 23rd,  2:00-7:30 pm: “Author Celebration”  Community authors, including Dossie Easton, Viola Johnson and Carol Queen will be reading selections from their work and chatting.  Stop by after the fair to relax and enjoy the library while listening to these famous community authors read and discuss their work.
Tuesday, September 25th,  7:00-9:30 pm:  Closing Ceremony, with Angela DiTenebre and Iain Turner.  Help us say goodbye to the Carter-Johnson Leather Library in our own uniquely San Franciscan way.  Refreshments will be provided.
