MAY EVENTS

Thursday, 5/1, 8 pm -- LAURA ANTONIOU presents TOO KINKY FOR WORDS: PLAYING WAY OFF THE EDGE

Everyone loves to claim they play on the edge, or their style of being kinky is somehow greater than the average pervert. Yet even among the uber-kinky, there are those of us who have fantasies - or play styles - which seem to be beyond what is considered "acceptable." Is your kink really "OK"? How can you tell? Are there boundaries to fantasies? Should there be? Should we/can we own our most unmentionable ones? How do you share fantasies with a partner if they make you uncomfortable?

This workshop is more of a guided discussion group on the process of identifying, naming, sharing and potentially enacting our scariest fantasies. It's not about being outrageous to shock others - it's about fear of community mores, worries about personal responsibility, shameful eroticism and secret joys.

Participants must come prepared to write down a fantasy or playstyle (anonymously, if they wish) and turn it in to the presenter.

See Laura's bio with her 4/29 class listing.

At the Center for Sex & Culture, 1519 Mission near 11th -- look for the pink awning.
CSC can take checks and credit cards (Visa, MC and Discover). Pre-register at (415) 255-1155 or mail@sexandculture.org

This hands-on workshop will explore our erotic potential as women through masturbation. Through breath, movement, practice (and maybe even some art) we will explore our anatomy of pleasure, and a range of self-pleasuring exercises you can take home. Inspired by Betty Dodson, the "grandmother of masturbation," and her work with the Center for Sex & Culture, Nellie advocates the power of masturbation as a key to pleasure. This workshop will provide a safe space to explore your self-sexuality and share in the diverse experiences of fellow women. Please bring a robe, towel or blanket and any toys with you.

For more information please contact Nellie Wilson at newnellie0@gmail.com. Register by calling 415-255-1155 or email us at mail@sexandculture.org

Sunday evening, 5/4, 7 pm -- LAURA ANTONIOU presents THE REVENGE OF THE MIDDLE AGED GUARD

Youve been there; youve done that. So why do things seem so much more complicated now? If you remember when my space meant where you took a hot date after dinner, links were for chains and poly was followed by ester you may be feeling your age a bit. Laura sure is; her bed time bears a suspicious resemblance to the time she used to go out to SM clubs. This round table is designed for those who arent ready for old fart status and arent sure if theyre want to be added to a Facebook friends list, either. Limited kvetching allowed, but more designed to discuss what our experiences have taught us and what we want to do to enhance our personal and community relations. No one under 32 allowed! Go to a dang TNG meeting or have a mocha soy latte with a shot of mango and text your BFF on how unfair the world is.

Author of Stiff and Spook, examining death and the afterlife, respectively, Mary's finally turned her incisively witty brain and pointed yet compassionate pen to a topic we can enjoy while we're still alive. "Mary Roach is the funniest writer on sex and death since Sigmund Freud, but without the misogyny and cigars," says Peter Sagal of NPR's "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!" She'll read from Bonk and discuss "the curious [and in her hands very clever] coupling of sex and science."

"I would read Mary Roach on the history of Quonset huts. But Mary Roach on sex? That's a godsend!" -- AJ Jacobs, author of The Year of Living Biblically

If you're curious who is throwing play parties today, what kinds of events are out there and for whom, where they happen, who attends, and if there is a play party for me and what I'm into... Thursday, May 29, -- THE ART OF TANTRIC KISSING

Sherry Huggi-Ma and Destin Gerek, a.k.a."The Erotic Rockstar" have lovingly co-created a beautifully inspired workshop for your enjoyment. From the heart of our soul, and from the depth of our love, we have chosen to share our teachings about the sacred intimacy of erotic and tantric kissing.

This event has been created around the joy and splendor of one of our favorite intimate past times....kissing. The kiss, in where many forms of intimacy starts. Where primal love and erotic pleasure merge together in love and passion. Kissing is one of humankind's greatest invention. All animals copulate, but only humans kiss. There is no other flesh like lip flesh...no meat like mouth meat! The musical clink of tooth against tooth, the wonderful curiosity of tongues...

In tantra, where consciously living in the bliss of each present moment is the path, we extracted one of our favorite forms of intimacy and have added ancient breathing and toning techniques to create a mind blowing, heart-opening, body-orgasm-inducing 3 hour experience for you all. Some of our exercises will include:

  • Movement and dance
  • Story sharing around kissing
  • Kissing contest
  • Toning and chakra clearing
  • Sensual food feeding
  • And a dozen delicious, tantric kissing exercises that you and your partner will be experiencing together....yum!

WHEN: Thursday, May 29 from 7-10pm LOCATION: Center For Sex and Culture at 1519 Mission Street in SF COST: $60 per couple. Please preregister by using paypal. Please rsvp by emailing huggima@yahoo.com or call 510-410-8876 for more info

In addition he has recently started hosting monthly Eye-Gazing Parties in the Bay Area.

Sun. May 4th - 2-5pm - closing party for Sketchers, by Dan Becker, at the Mark I Chester studio at 1229 Folsom St. in SF.

Open to all genders and sexual orientations. Dan will be in attendance with additional portfolios and sketch books.

Dan is well known at the Center for Sex and Culture. He is a fixture at the SF Jacks and has been a hearty participant in the Center's Masturbatathons and Nude Aid benefits. Dan is also a hard core member of Gay Men's Sketch and Hot Draw!, two gay male drawing groups hosted by Mark I Chester. Sketchers, is in celebration of Gay Men's Sketch 21st anniversary.

In Sketchers, Dan exhibits his drawings of other sketchers while they are drawing. While other sketchers are focused on the model, Dan sometimes focuses on the men drawing, making them art, while they are making the models art, in a sense turning the normal dynamic of 'artist draws the model' on its head. While the models expect to be looked at and made into art, the artists doing the drawings expect that no one will be looking at them and making them into art. Leave it to Dan, to break down this universal understanding.

Working in a liquid medium of pen and ink, brush and ink and gouache, Dan uses a surprisingly broad range of techniques from realistic documentation to emotional impressionism to capture these images of men looking down. Dan's work has also inspired other sketchers in the group to do drawings of men drawing. Dan's artistic explorations are as infectious as they are revealing. For samples of Dan's work go to http://markichester.com/sketchers or call Mark at 415-621-6294.
