Like a Pro – How to keep your work safe, effective and satisfying with Betty Martin Monday, June 21, 7-9pm
Do you have your hands on people professionally? Sexological Bodywork? Sexwork? Sacred Intimate? Massage? Surrogate? Tantrika? Chances are you are great with your hands, but what makes you a professional is something else.
It’s knowing how to assess what your client/student is ready for and more importantly, what they are not. A professional knows that not everyone will fit the formula, and has effective and reliable tools to assess what is needed. That starts with the ability of the client/student to notice, communicate and choose. These skills are never a given, but must be assessed and taught. How? That’s what this evening is about.
Free talk, demo and discussion with Dr. Betty Martin, from Seattle, former Chiropractor, current Sacred Intimate and sex coach, sexological bodyworker and mentor for sex professionals.
Betty feels really lucky to have had her background in health care before entering sex work, and is passionate about bridging this all-too-common gap in skills for sexual body workers of all kinds. And she absolutely adores sharing it.
She is the originator of Like a Pro, a 3-day course, which she will be offering in the Bay Area in August. You don’t have to wait for the course though - what you learn tonight will be usable right away.
Cost – free – donations accepted for Center for Sex and Culture
About Betty: Betty Martin is a former chiropractor and - well, she still is one but no longer works as one because it’s way more fun to work as a sex coach. But still, it was a great way to develop really great hands and the skills of assessment, clarity, and that strange thing called ‘case management’, which simply means figuring out what each person needs and how to give it to them.
She’s taught peer counseling for decades, along with several body-mind integration modalities, and now teaches others how to keep their sessions safe, effective and satisfying. She also is a trainer for Foundations of Facilitation, a workshop in facilitating small groups, which is the prerequisite for certification as a Cuddle Party facilitator.
She is best known for her model of desire, touch and consent, called the Wheel of Consent, which is featured in her book due out this fall – The Lover’s Touch: How to bring your heart into your hands and what it can teach you about life and love.
