About the Film: "Skinnyfat" is the story of two twenty-something guys who become obsessed with getting perfect abs before a big party. Lead on by narcissistic Chaz (a comically abrasive urban hipster), they embark on an increasingly neurotic journey for self-acceptance…but discovering along the way that the elusive six-pack may be just the beginning. "Skinnyfat" focuses on the pressures people face to be a certain size, especially pressure from the media and “mainstream” gay culture to be young, lean and/or muscular.  The story is told as a subversive comedy, a la John Waters or Strangers With Candy, that highlights the level of judgment leveled at different body types.  It also shows the internalized pressure gay men can feel to become what society deems “acceptable.”  Whether you’re skinny, muscular, beefy, etc., someone’s got an opinion about it.

About the Director: Andy Bydalek has written, produced, and directed short films that have played in festivals across the U.S. and in Europe, including the world renowned San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival.  He has also produced, directed and edited promotional videos for Bay Area clients such as the award-winning Performing Arts Workshop (voted Best In Bay) and the Cutest of the Castro Contest.  With a focus on issues that affect the LGBT community, Andy combines insightful perspective, a clear narrative voice and compelling visuals to produce unique works that entertain and provoke thought.
