Celebrate EROTIC EMBRACE OF THE CORSET with Fakir and friends. Fifty years of photography of extreme body modification with tightly laced corsets. Sip wine or coffee while Fakir tells stories of the subjects in his images, their trials and triumphs in remaking their bodies. Questions and answers too. This exhibit will be up until September 10. FAKIR MUSAFAR is known worldwide for his fifty-year’s research and personal exploration of primitive body decoration and rituals. Fakir has introduced concepts and practices for the “body-first” approach to explore spirituality in art, body modifications, SM and what he calls “body play”. Fakir’s practices have been shown and his views expressed in the 1985 film DANCES SACRED & PROFANE and in ReSearch publications 1986 book MODERN PRIMITIVES. He designed and made corsets from 1957 to 1962; his original corset patterns are still being used by other corsetiers until the present. Fakir's photo art is best seen in his huge photobook Spirit+Flesh from Arena Editions, 2002. Book will be available at CSC.
