| "Our Bodies, Our Choices": Creating Safe Spaces to Talk about Sex in Kenya w/ TICAH Health founding director Mary Ann Burris Wednesday, March 11, 2009 7:30 pm The Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health (TICAH), a global outreach effort based in Nairobi, works to explore and enhance the positive links between culture and health and has pioneered amazingly powerful workshops on sexuality. In men's and women's groups (including ones that serve HIV-positive people, discordant couples, and the uninfected), homosexual, bisexual, and heterosexual participants alike share information about their sex lives and history with each other and TICAH researchers. Their revelations cast light on cultural and gender differences, sexual desires and practices, and how they play out in their lives. Join TICAH founder Mary Ann Burris, who has spent the past twenty years studying and providing services promoting health and sexuality in China as well as Africa and Southeast Asia, for a fascinating discussion. Cost: $5-50 sliding scale -- proceeds will be shared with TICAH: www.ticahealth.org |
